Renowned U.S. interior architectural designer, Mr. Edwin Gutt, who recently concluded a high-profile $4.9 million contract with Marriott Hotels in Cancun, has been detained by Mexican authorities over alleged tax evasion.
The project, which started successfully on December 5th, 2025, marked a significant milestone in Mr. Gutt’s international portfolio. However, while work is still on going, The Mexican authorities intercepted the work progress and this was due to unresolved tax-related matters.
Mr. Gutt remains in custody while his legal team works diligently toward a resolution and possible bail for Mr. Gutt today. No official statement has been released by his representatives or Marriott at this time.
